Your excursion begins with us picking you up from your hotel - cruise port or airport, we head straight to Montjuic hill for making a panoramic of the whole city and visiting the 1992 Olympic ring, the majestic national palace and making a quick stop at the Plaza de España and the pavilions of the second international exhibition (EXPO) held in Barcelona in 1929.

We continue our excursion from Barcelona driving to the Montserrat Royal basilica  (1 hour travel). The journey is relaxing and goes through marvelous landscapes. Before we reach the Summit we will stop at a viewpoint to get a good look at the mountain of Montserrat, the sheer rocks rising into the blue sky. You can take good photos, and then we will back on our way to the Monastery - from this point you can decide if you prefer to get to the monastery with your private transport or prefer to take the cable car (This option is not included in the price and can be booked in advance or if you prefer in the same place - Your choice - If you wish to include this option please include this information in the pre-booking form).

The Barcelona and Montserrat Shore Excursion offers the traveler a great deal of culture and religious history. You can walk to the Holy Cave where the legend tells us two shepherd children met the Black Holy Virgin ¨La Muraneta¨ in the year 880. You can also take a cable car to Sant Joan cave and up to the highest point of the Montserrat mountain. The ideal place to admire the land below and take the finest photos. In the Basilica there is the figure of the Black Virgin ¨La Mureneta¨ and there you will be able to listen to the Escolanios, one of the oldest children’s choirs in Europe (if they are giving a recital). Your guide is always there for you and will fill in all the details and the fascinating history.

Once the visit to the monastery will be complete you guide will give you some free time for walk around, make some shopping of artisan artisanal products of the local merchants, such as cheeses, jams, honey and a so many other natural goodies. We would recommend you to try out the Mato cheese. It’s fresh and has a honey like texture. It is exquisite, especially as a dessert.

Once the visit in Montserrat is over we will travel back to Barcelona for visit the famous Sagrada Familia (Optional inside) or Park Güell in case that you prefer just see the Sagrada Familia externally, next we will continue the tour visiting some of the Barcelona highlights as Paseo de Gracia street with drive pass by La Pedrera (casa Mila) and Casa Batllo two famous buildings built by Gaudi and part of the Block of Disagreement, Once the tour will be finish your driver guide will take you back to your hotel - Cruise port or airport.

• Transportation + Licensed guide: This option offers an official expert guide in the history of the mountain of Montserrat, its monastery and the city of Barcelona including private guided visit in La Sagrada Familia in case that you wish to choose this option, your guide will accompany you at all times to offer you the best experience during your visit to Montserrat and Barcelona.
